CIRCULAR BEAUTY JOURNAL 1: The Spark

This journal documents my journey of finding hope while watching the world get buried in plastic. I share my aha moments, my struggles, technical knowledge and resources I hope you will find useful - as someone determined to leave behind a better planet for future generations.

I stood in my bathroom, feeling exhausted and disconnected, looking for something to comfort me. What I found instead was a sea of plastic bottles, promising me fixes to problems I didn’t even know I had.

I was angry. 

My rest had been taken from me, turned into a profiteering opportunity, a site of pollution. 

I wanted something more - for me, for us.

As I learned more about the horrors of the global plastic crisis, I also came across something that filled me with hope and excitement: circular design.

We can return to the natural cycle if we re-design our products and systems. 

No small feat, but possible!

I felt a calling for the first time in my life. 

I chose beauty products to make this change.

Why? 

I had spent a decade in the personal and beauty care industry and knew enough to get going. 

But more importantly, just look around our bathrooms..
